Hillary Clinton WebsiteHillary Diane Rodham was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 26, 1947, daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Rodham. Her father, Hugh Rotham, was a fabric store owner and mother a home maker. She entered Wellesley College in 1965 and moved on to Yale University Law School in 1969. In Yale, she served on the Board of Editors of the Yale Review of Law and Social Action. While at Yale, she met fellow student Bill Clinton. After graduation, Hillary moved to Arkansas where Bill had begun his political career. Bill and Hillary got married in 1975. She joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas Law School in 1975 and the Rose Law Firm in 1976. Their daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1980. In 1978, she was appointed to the board of the Legal Services Corporation by President Jimmy Carter. That same year, Bill Clinton became governor of Arkansas and she, the first lady. As first lady, Hillary Clinton chaired the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee and co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. Hillary was named Arkansas Woman of the Year in 1983 and Arkansas Mother of the Year in 1984. After becoming First Lady of United States of America in 1993, Hillary continued her public service work. In 2000, Rodham Clinton won a senate seat representing New York state, making her the first wife of a president to seek and win national office. Senator Clinton is also the author of books like Living History, It Takes A Village, Other Lessons Children Teach Us, Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids’ Letters to the First Pets and An Invitation to the White House. |
