Life Story Autobiography of Barack ObamaBarak Hussein Obama was born on August 4,1961 in Hawaii. His father was a Kenyan Muslim and mother an American Christian. At the age of two, his parents divorced and Obama went to live with his mother in Indonesia. His father Barak Hussein Obama, Sr. went on to graduate from Harward and moved to Kenya to work for the Government as an economist. Obama's mother Ann Dunham, married an Indonesian Oil manager. After staying a few years with his mother, Obama went to america to do his high school and lived with his grandparents. Obama was able to get admission in a very prestigious prep school. Though his father did not live with him, he used to regularly write to him. In his autobiography, Dreams from my father, he has mentioned a special relation with his father. Obama later attended Columbia University and then Harvard Law School in 1988 from where he recieved his law degree. In Harward he made news by becoming the first African-American to chair the prestigious Harward Law Review. After getting his degree, he chose not to join a well paying job and instead chose to work for civil rights and joined the civil rights law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. In 2004, Obama won the senate seat from Illinios to become the fifth African-American senator in the history of the U.S.A. In February 2007, Senator Barak Obama formally signed his candidiature for the post of President whose elections are to be held in November, 2008. Touted to be a strong candidate, he might again create history by becoming the first African-American President of America. |
