Drug Addiction Classes
The government is not doing enough to ensure that American young people are not faced with the dangers of drugs and alcohol at an early age. It is not hard to see that the younger a person is when they decide to try a certain drug, the more likely they are to continue to do that drug and develop an addiction into adulthood.
Through drug addiction prevention and education classes, the United States Government can take a more active role in the prevention of drug addiction in many Americans. These classes may address any combination of a variety of things, but it is important for American children to be made aware at an early age that drug addiction poses a definite threat to themselves and their livelihood.
A good example of what types of things could be discussed in these drug education or prevention classes may be what it is that certain drugs do to the body to give the user the feeling of being ‘high.’ Whether it cuts off oxygen to the brain, makes it bleed, or just impairs brain function, drug addiction leads to other health problems and possibly other addictions and it is vital that American people are presented with this information in a formal, organized way before a pusher or dealer, or maybe even just a friend, gets to them and distorts the reality of drug use and addiction.
A lot of these programs are being presented in many schools around the nation, however it is imperative that the government take a more active role in the future of our young people and regulate such classes and make them available to all of our young people, so that all of our young people have the same opportunity and the same chance at a successful future.
