Hard Drugs
Hard drugs are becoming more an d more of a problem in society every day. Hard drugs including things that are most addictive and harmful to your health, such as cocaine, heroin, crack, methamphetamines and the like. Not only are the effects of these things deleterious and harmful to the body, but they are severely addictive and expensive.
Statistics show that those who use and are addicted to hard drugs are most likely to commit crimes in order to sustain and maintain their habit and are least likely to keep steady employment. In the long run this is bad for the economy, and leads to a rise in the crime rate. One could go on and on about the effects of hard drugs on today’s society, but what can be done about it?
Perhaps stricter laws in the ‘war on drugs’ would be effective, but this would probably just lead to more crowded prisons in the US. Would this solve the problem? Drug use is sometimes perpetuated in prison--many of those in prison for drugs are repeat offenders who just can not or will not get the picture so something else has to be done to deal with this problem. The threat of hard drug addiction is threatening the future of the United States and our young people and something must be done about this. Our children must be properly and successfully educated about the risks involved in drug use, the laws regarding it, and other Just Say No tactics.
