Religious Freedom
Religious freedom is one of the great guarantees that make the United States a prime destination of those whose faith is persecuted, maligned, and treated with disrespect all over the world. Religious refugees from various nations see America as the Promised Land where they will be permitted to worship their gods in freedom without fear of reprisal, and where they do not have to bow to the state-sanctioned gods that their governments seek to force upon them.
Republicans know that religious freedom actually comes in two flavors: there is the freedom of religion (which permits for the free exercise of whatever faith you choose to believe in) and then there is the freedom from religion (which ensures that you do not have to be caught up in the participation of any kind of faith if you do not wish to do so). Both of these kinds of freedom are vital to the republic in that they truly live out the mandate of religious freedom that is guaranteed in the United States Constitution.
It is this religious freedom that Republicans work hard to protect. Whether it is the freedom of Christians to have a nativity scene displayed over the Christmas holidays, or the freedom of Jewish believers to have a menorah erected during the days of Hanukkah, Republicans will need to continue to protect the religious freedoms for those of all faiths. At this point, the most important aspect of this protection is the equal access to having grievances about religious discrimination heard and dealt with.
